About Redbridge Heritage Centre
The Heritage Centre is on the second floor in Redbridge Central Library. It is free to use and offers a diverse range of local and family history resources. Many of these general resources including books, historic newspapers and online resources are available during normal Library opening times. For a specific enquiry or to view historic photographs, building plans or archives you must make a booking in advance.

Book in advance
If you visit in person, you must book a session five days before your visit. Please let us know which resources or archives you wish to view.
Each session is 2.5 hours and are available 10.30am-1pm or 1.30pm-4pm, Tuesday-Friday and every other Saturday. At the end of a morning session, if an afternoon session is available, customers may also book the afternoon session if required.
Up to four study spaces and two PC spaces (including one digital microfilm reader for newspapers) are available per session.

Schools Heritage Programme
The Heritage Service delivers a wide range of free education sessions based around the national curriculum. Groups can use historic archives, maps, and photographs to learn about the history of their local area and school.
Combine your session with a visit to the museum where students can handle real artefacts, take part in fun activities and explore the displays.

Local & Family History
Redbridge Heritage Centre provide a service for local and family history research and hold the largest collection of materials in the Borough on the history of Ilford, Wanstead, Woodford and Redbridge.
