Today, Thursday 2 July, the Redbridge community gathered to mark Armed Forces Day with a special service, following its postponement last week due to the Red Heat Alert.
The occasion provided a meaningful opportunity to come together in recognition of the dedication, courage and sacrifice of the men and women who serve, and have served, in the Armed Forces. Veterans, serving personnel, cadets, local organisations and residents united to pay tribute to those who have defended our country and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Among those in attendance were the Mayor of Redbridge, Councillor Bert Jones, Leader of Redbridge Council, Councillor Kam Rai and Lieutenant Colonel David Utting DL VR who joined representatives from across the borough in recognising the service and commitment of the Armed Forces community.
The occasion offered a moment of reflection, remembrance and gratitude, recognising the invaluable contribution made by members of the Armed Forces, past and present, and reaffirming our shared commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
Our thanks go to everyone who helped make the service such a meaningful occasion, from the organisers our Vision Events team and participants to all those who attended to show their support. Although rescheduled, the service remained a poignant reminder of the courage, dedication and selfless service of our Armed Forces, and the importance of coming together as a community to honour their legacy.
We remain proud to support our Armed Forces community throughout the year. Lest we forget.
