Black History Month 2026
Celebrate Black History Month with Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure
This October, Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure, in partnership with Redbridge Council and local community organisations and individuals, is proud to celebrate Black History Month with a vibrant programme of events taking place across the borough.
Held annually throughout October in the UK, Black History Month provides an opportunity to celebrate, share and learn about the rich heritage, cultures and contributions of Black communities.
Honouring Our Communities
This year’s theme, “Honouring Our Communities”, celebrates the everyday people whose care, leadership, resilience and support help communities across the UK thrive. While Black history includes remarkable achievements and influential figures, it is also shaped by the countless everyday acts of support, solidarity and service of everyday people. From the legacy of the Windrush generation to the present day, the theme recognises the collective contributions of Black communities and the vital role they continue to play in shaping a stronger, more inclusive society.
