This year we will be celebrating St George’s Day in collaboration with Hainault Forest Community Association, for a Family Fun event!

Wooden Musical Dragon installation

Musical Dragon Installation

A beautifully crafted wooden musical installation. All ages are invited to operate the half dozen handles which launch 12ft tall George the Dragon into a grand display of hand cranked contraptioneering. He plays music, blows bubbles and displays the joys and ingenuity of mechanical engineering. Just turn the handles to generate smiles and laughter.

The Punch and Judy show is a traditional puppet performance known for its slapstick humour, known for entertaining audiences – especially children – for centuries.

Blackhorse and Standard Morris Dancers

Blackhorse and Standard Women’s North West Morris is a London-based, women-only side performing energetic North West Morris clog dancing. Founded around 1982 in Walthamstow, they perform in blue dresses, red tights, and clogs, often using garlands, sticks, and bobbins.

Meet the Pearly Queen at 16:20* 

Doreen Golding is a celebrated London Pearly Queen known for her lifelong dedication to preserving the traditional Pearly Kings and Queens culture. Awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal), she has devoted decades to charitable fundraising and community service, proudly wearing her iconic pearl-buttoned costume as a symbol of working-class heritage and generosity in London.
