This is a new and exciting monthly reading club for children 8 to 12 years interested in becoming storytellers using robots, videos or coding. Please express your interest in this club by booking a ticket through Eventbrite or the corresponding library as indicated below.

Each month you will read a book at home and then come together to share the storyline by using video editing apps and special effects to create projects that can be shared on a large number of platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Twitter or Instagram.

We require a commitment of at least 6 months (6 sessions). Maria from Lab Central will arrange for a chat with you about this club before your child/children can be given a place as unfortunately spaces are limited. Looking forward to talking to you!

CodeUp Ilford, adults

Please note CodeUp has been cancelled until further notice while we research, with our volunteers, relevant content around coding to include in this group.

CodeUp Ilford is a mentoring program for adults who would like to learn how to code for free. Twice a month we provide a workspace for people with no programming skills to come and learn the basics, with mentors available to answer your questions and help you on your way.

Our sessions are also suitable for people with basic skills who need support to develop them, and even for people with intermediate or advanced skills who just want to come along to a space where everyone is immersed in code! We also encourage it to be a self-learning group with learning resources available to help. Please ensure you bring along your own laptop.

We are also looking for mentors, please check our volunteering page for details on how to apply.

Code clubs at Redbridge Libraries, 9-13 yrs

With the support of tech volunteers, children will have the opportunity to learn the basics of coding with easy to follow step-by-step guides by making animations and games. The club is free but spaces are limited. Please book in advance with the library.

We are looking for volunteers with a tech background to help us run these sessions and encourage a new generation of young programmers. Please visit our volunteering page for details.
