HiVis fortnight (1-14 June) is the time of the year to highlight all our services and support for those with a vision impairment. We want to celebrate all that we do to help people with vision and/or print impairments to access and connect to the reading services and formats that suit them best.

Experience Sight Loss Through Virtual Reality

Date: Monday 1 June
Time: 11 am – 1 pm
Location: Lab Central – Redbridge Central Library

As part of HiVis Fortnight, join us for a unique Virtual Reality experience exploring what it means to live with sight loss.This relaxed, drop-in session invites you to try one or both immersive VR experiences, offering powerful and thought-provoking perspectives on vision and perception.

One Place Pop Up

Date: Tuesdays 2 and 9 June
Time: 11 am – 1 pm
Location: Lab Central – Redbridge Central Library

One Place East runs a weekly slot at the library to let the community know all about what they do and the services they can offer. Their Technical Assistance Project will also aim to demonstrate some of the latest equipment available and answer your questions about getting online. Free, just pop in!

Redbridge Outdoor Arts Present TRUTH! by Ramshacklicious and Hijinx (Audio Described Performances)

Date: Saturday 20 June
Time: at 11 am and 2 pm
Location: Ken Aston Square, Barkingside

TRUTH! is a unique outdoor performance by a 5 strong, inclusive ensemble of playful mischief makers. It’s a take on a brighter future, a joyful and absurd call to action. A highly inclusive and accessible show – suitable for all audiences and ages. Both performances are live audio described. Duration approximately 30 minutes.

HiVis 2026:

HiVis Fortnight is a great opportunity to take the chance to try out an eAudiobook or eBook through Libby and Borrowbox. Our virtual library is open 24/7, giving you instant access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks.

Both services are free with your library card and open up a world of great reads. The apps also have a variety of accessibility tools allowing you to adjust the setting to suit your specific needs. Have a browse on our curated collections and find your next novel.
