Menopause Month 2022

October is designated World Menopause Month by the World Health Organisation and the International Menopause Society. It is an annual campaign to raise awareness around menopause – a normal, natural stage of life and aging when hormone levels decline and periods cease.

But people’s experiences of the menopause vary. World Menopause Month is an opportunity to help everyone understand the possible health and other issues that can be experienced when approaching, during, and after menopause, while combating global stigma and misinformation.

So, let’s get informed, embrace menopause, and not try to erase it!

Activities

Let’s Talk Menopause with Claire

Join us for this online session in preparation for World Menopause Day. World Menopause Day is held every year on the 18 October, led by the International Menopause Society. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness on the menopause and to support options for improving health and wellbeing. The theme for 2022 is cognition and mood.

Claire Callaghan, Chartered Physiotherapist, will lead the session. In the info-chat, she will offer educational health and lifestyle information around the menopause within her scope of practice. She will also provide relevant resources and signpost useful information that relates to menopause.

You can find out more about Claire here and @PhysioClaireCal.

Claire’s info-chat will be followed by a Menopause Café, where people can gather to drink tea/coffee and discuss menopause. Talking about the menopause over a cup of tea/coffee is a great way to spend some time. These days, as we gather online, you can brew a cup of tea/coffee in the comfort of your own home. The Menopause Café discussion will have no pre-set agenda with the topics chosen by participants on the day, and there is no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action.

Please note: This online session is open to anybody to attend! The whole world needs to be talking about the menopause and that includes all genders and all ages.

We look forward to meeting you!
