An Introduction to Music Production
10 Week Online Course – Starting 28 April
During this introductory course, students will learn the basic skills and techniques required to produce and compose their own original music using Ableton Live.
Over the 10 weekly sessions students will learn how to:
- Navigate Ableton Live – one of the most popular professional music software programmes
- Create loops for drums and other instruments
- Understand recording techniques to capture live audio
- Create midi tracks using virtual instruments and synthesisers
- Compose original ideas with an understanding of melody, harmony, structure, texture and dynamics
- Edit and arrange tracks
- Use audio effects to enhance sounds
- Use production techniques to mix and master tracks to allow a professional sound
By the end of the course students will have created their own original track and acquired the knowledge to compose many more!
The course is taught using Ableton Live and students will be provided with a login for the duration of the course allowing students to access and work on their tracks in between sessions and practice what they have learnt.

Class 1 (Years 5-8) – Monday 4-5pm
Class 2 (Years 9-13) – Monday 5-6pm
