Redbridge’s young athletes have delivered an impressive series of performances at this year’s London Youth Games, bringing home medals and showcasing the borough’s sporting talent across multiple disciplines.
Earlier this month, both the boys’ and girls’ U13 indoor cricket teams progressed through tough qualifying rounds to reach the final eight on Sunday 22 March. Representing Redbridge, players from Wanstead, Frenford & Woodford Wells Cricket Club joined forces under the guidance of coaches from Wanstead Cricket Club.
In a highly competitive finals day, both teams performed exceptionally well, narrowly missing out on gold in their respective finals. Their efforts secured two silver medals for Redbridge, marking a fantastic achievement against some of the strongest youth cricket teams in London.
Meanwhile, on 24 January, Redbridge’s trampolining team also made its mark at the Games. Athletes from Inspire Trampoline Club competed with determination and skill, earning individual bronze and silver medals. The team finished an impressive 11th overall in a strong field.
The London Youth Games remains the largest annual youth sports event in Europe, providing opportunities for over 10,000 young Londoners aged 7 to 17 to compete across 37 sports, representing all 33 boroughs.
These results highlight the depth of young sporting talent in Redbridge and reflect the dedication of athletes, coaches, and clubs working together to achieve success on the capital’s biggest youth sporting stage.
