Iain Varah

Chief Executive

Iain as a Chief Officer in Redbridge Council was responsible for the initial creation of Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure as a Sport and Leisure trust that has managed the London Borough of Redbridge’s sports facilities since April 2007. In May of 2011, the remainder of Redbridge’s culture and leisure services were transferred to the expanded trust and in 2016 Music, Drama and Youth Centre’s were also added. Iain is the Chief Executive of Vision that now manages libraries, sports facilities and development, parks & open spaces, arts, museums, play, music service, drama centre, youth centres, civic halls and grounds maintenance.

Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure Ltd is one of the UK’s largest culture and leisure trusts with a turnover of £21m, and Iain and his senior management team are currently concentrating on driving further efficiencies and business development while maintaining  and developing  the  benefits and social outputs of the integrated and diverse services and facilities to the local community. Iain is a past Chair of the National Leisure and Culture Officers Association and London CLOA and is currently a member of the National Executive Committee. He is a member of the Library Taskforce, the London disability Sports forum and a Fellow of CIMSPA.

Gareth Morley

Deputy Chief Executive

Gareth has over 25 years’ experience working across Arts and Libraries in both local government and the charitable sector, managing both corporate/strategic services and operational frontline services.

His previous roles have included the management and development of wide range of local government operational and strategic services, including customer services, adult social care, culture and community services, leading transformational change and delivering quality, outcome focused services, balanced with value for money and efficiency.

Gareth has a track record of delivering award winning, nationally recognised services, that result in better services and outcomes for customers and the communities we work in.

Kevin Wackett

Director of Parks & Open Spaces

Working in the leisure industry for 28 years, Kevin has vast experience in leisure, sport, events, contract monitoring and parks. As Director of Parks & Open Spaces, Kevin is responsible for all of our green space including operations, grounds maintenance, nature conservation, allotments and events. Kevin is also the corporate lead for business development and corporate marketing, as well as leading for the company on many business and change management projects.

In his spare time, Kevin is a Trustee of a charity helping those affected by spinal injuries.

Anita Luby

Assistant Director of Arts, Culture and Libraries

With over 30 years’ experience across the arts, culture and libraries sector, Anita has built a diverse career as both a creative practitioner and a senior leader within local government, the voluntary sector and a variety of arts organisations. Trained at the London Centre for Theatre Studies, she brings a blend of creativity, strategic insight and organisational leadership to everything she does.

Anita plays an active role in shaping the sector nationally and regionally, serving as a Board Member for the London Culture Forum, Past Chair and President of London Libraries, and a member of the GLA London Borough of Culture partnership board. Her pioneering death positive work in Redbridge has helped inspire a national framework for libraries, sparking conversations (and sometimes raised eyebrows) across the UK.

She loves creating inclusive services that help communities thrive and has led award winning, innovative programmes that push boundaries and open new doors.

When she’s not championing inclusive culture that brings communities together, you’ll find Anita hanging out with her family, camping under the stars, or joyfully losing herself on a dancefloor.
