Level: Little to no water experience is required.

Ideal for the youngsters, this popular 20 minute class is centred around building water confidence and skills from an early age.

Level: Little to no water experience is required.

Children will begin with armbands, may have little to no water confidence and are unable to swim any distance unaided.

To Progress: Children must be able to swim on their front and back unaided for 3m.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 1 and be able to swim unaided on their front and back for a minimum of 3m

In this stage they will be introduced to Breaststroe and will continue to develp Front Crawl and Bakcstroke.

To Progress: Children will need to be able to swim 5m unaided on their front and back with an alternated arm action for both strokes. Children must be confident with putting their face in the water and show a preliminary knowledge of the breaststroke arm.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 2.

In this stage they will be introduced to Butterfly whilst continuing to develop all other strokes.

To Progress: Children will need ot be able to swim 10m front and back, strokes require a basic technique. Children must be able to travel 5m using Breastroke leg kick and have a preliminary knowledge of the dolphin leg kick.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 3.

In this stage children will be expected to swim 10m Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breastroke all with good technique of the leg kick and 10m dolphin leg kick on Butterfly. Swimmers will also be introduced to a number of new water skills.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 4.

Within this stage, children will be introduced to deep water skills such as treading water, somersalts and jumping into deep water. Children must be able to swim 25m each of Backstroke, Front Crawn and Breaststroke and 10m Butterfly with good technique.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 5.

Within this stage, children will need to demonstrate a good understanding of preperation for exercise, perform a number of different deep water skills, including a 100m swim. Children must also be competent in swimming 50m each of Front Crawl, Breaststroke and Backstroke and 15m Butterfly with efficient technique.

Level: Children will have completed all elements of Stage 6.

Within this stage children will need to swim 200m using 3 different strokes and a 400m swim in less than 15 minutes. Children must also be competent in swimming 100m each of Front Crawl, Breaststroke and Backstroke and 25m butterfly with efficient technique.
