We are delighted to reveal that Valentines Park is one of the Ten most popular Green Flag Award-winning parks in the country, thanks to your votes!
This is the second successive year that Valentines Park have achieved a place within the People’s Choice Award Top Ten, and the sixth time since 2012. As our flagship park, this is very gratifying for staff and volunteers who work so hard to make the park a great place to visit. This year saw the extension of the outdoor gym. With 15 pieces of equipment and a total of 20 workstations, it is now one of the largest in London giving our residents and visitors even more ways to exercise.
In 2020, more people than ever have come to see the benefits of visiting our parks and green spaces and for thousands, they have been a lifeline; a place to meet friends and family safely and to escape to for some much-needed peace and quiet.
Redbridge parks, like many other parks throughout the country, saw people flocking to them over the summer months. So it is perhaps not surprising that tens of thousands of people took part in the vote to find the country’s ten best Green Flag Award-winning parks and green spaces.
Green Flag Scheme
The Green Flag Award scheme is the international quality standard for parks and green spaces, and this year a record-breaking 2,061 achieved the award, making our place within the top ten even more remarkable.
“I would like to congratulate our ten worthy winners and thank all the thousands of parks staff and volunteers across the country who have gone the extra mile this year to ensure our country’s parks and green spaces remain such fantastic places to escape to and enjoy.”
“We know how important quality parks are to people of all ages in every corner of the UK and so, for these parks, this public recognition of just how much they are loved and valued is a real achievement.”
Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager
