Vision prepares spectacular summer programme for the young people of Redbridge

Summer in Redbridge comes to life as Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure host a range of events, activities, festivals, outdoor arts, and sporting opportunities.

Redbridge Holiday Mega Mix

Mega Mix is a new campaign for summer 2022, which offers a wide variety of affordable taster sessions and workshops for children aged 8 to 16 years old.

Activities include swim at Fullwell Cross, Loxford and Mayfield Leisure Centres, 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm, Monday to Saturday for £1. Watch a film at Kenneth More Theatre, for just £1 per session! Children under the age of 8 can take part if accompanied by an adult.

Children can get active with sport coaching sessions including tennis, athletics, basketball, hockey and cricket. Learn new digital skills from interactive book, lego, 3D modelling to coding and electronics. Plus, Vision has a number of arts and crafts, theatre workshops. Dance and other instrumental workshops. All sessions will be inclusive. Arts and crafts, boccia and kurling will be available for children with additional needs.

Cllr Kam Rai, Deputy Leader of Redbridge Council, said:

“We know that the cost of days out and childcare during the school holidays can really stack-up for parents and carers, and with lots of local families across the borough being hit by the cost of living crisis, the upcoming summer holidays present a real challenge for many.

Redbridge Council has provided £125,000 to Vision to host the Redbridge Holiday Mega Mix, a range of low-cost activities for children aged 8-16 years across the borough, so that more children can have access to sports and social activities during the summer holidays.”

Martin Solider, Chair of Trustees for Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all young people in Redbridge to have affordable access to a range of sport, arts and cultural opportunities in the summer holidays. I would like to thank the Council for funding such a wide and varied programme which should assist many families in the current cost of living crisis.”
