Vision’s statement on Zara Aleena murder

Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure would like to share our deepest sympathies with the family and friends of Zara Aleena. Our thoughts have been with the family through these devastating months as they mourn their beloved daughter.

Before committing murder, Jordan McSweeney was released on license by probation services. McSweeney stayed in the Ilford area for a few days prior to the murder and was at no point employed by the Funfair at Valentines Park. We can confirm that the Funfair operator was instrumental in McSweeney’s arrest; providing extensive CCTV coverage that helped identify him and lead Police to his location.

We are committed to following a thorough application process for all hirers of Redbridge Parks and Open spaces. Paperwork must include evidence of risk assessment, health and safety, procedures on lost children, first aid and security. All applications are scrutinised by the Events Team and the Council’s Safety Advisory Group as required.
