On Friday 13 March, Redbridge Council and Vision Redbridge officially reopened the Redbridge Cycling Centre alongside the brand-new skatepark, following essential maintenance works that began at the end of last summer.
The Redbridge Cycling Centre was temporarily closed after the summer season to allow for vital maintenance and resurfacing of the track. This much-loved facility welcomes thousands of visitors each year, and we are delighted that the facility has re-opened just in time for Easter Holidays and with coaching courses available to young people.
We’re also thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new concrete skatepark at Forest Road Recreation Ground in Hainault. Installed by Betongpark, the new skatepark replaces the much-loved facility that had been a local landmark for more than 20 years.
This exciting new wheeled facility will provide local residents and visitors with a modern space to ride, practice and perfect tricks – from handplants to tail grabs on its iconic vertical half-pipe – for many years to come.
Martin Solder, Chair of Vision Trustees, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome cyclists, skaters and the wider community back to these fantastic facilities. The improvements to Redbridge Cycling Centre ensure the track remains safe, high-quality and enjoyable for everyone who uses it, while the new skatepark at Forest Road Recreation Ground provides an exciting space for young people and enthusiasts to develop their skills.”
Councillor Kam Rai, Leader of Redbridge Council said:
“We promised that we would replace the old skatepark and bring it back, and we have. In many places across the country, facilities like this don’t exist because they haven’t committed to them. We made that commitment and I’m proud of what we delivered here. I look forward to seeing people enjoy this space for many years, and having fun in Hainault.Redbridge Cycling Centre is at the heart of our borough a brilliant space for local people for residents to enjoy and people from outside to come and enjoy cycling, to learn to ride and just take time together as well as with other people.”
We would like to thank our hirers, clubs and regular users for their patience and understanding during this period of improvement works at both facilities.
