ROA Environmental Responsibility Pledge 2025
Redbridge Outdoor Arts are a small team who carry out most tasks ourselves when we bring productions to Redbridge. We are committed to responsibly reducing the impact in the local communities that we work in and our planet.
Ways that we already work sustainably:

- By using mains energy in our town centre locations of Barkingside and Ilford.
- We hire from local business suppliers.
- We have created generic marketing materials which can be used year after year and maximised the use of all resources, including weather-proof banners.
- We have reduced the number of flyers and posters produced.
- We programme environmentally themed shows and invite stakeholders and local environmental groups to our shows to raise awareness amongst the community.
- By promoting public transport travel to our shows, including details of bus routes and local area maps.
- By joining the Without Walls Environmental Responsibility Action Group where we are learning best practice from other festivals and producers.
Our goals in 2025:
- Actively and deliberately improve our practice using outdoor arts industry assessment tools, like the Andrew Lansley Donut Toolkit. OAUK Donut Toolkit – OutdoorArtsUK
- Support and encourage ‘Green Riders’ and weather contingency plans from artists Lorna Rees on Green Riders for Outdoor Artists – Without Walls
- Weatherproof performances and prepare for inclement weather so that outdoor shows can go ahead whatever the weather.
- Measure audience travel habits in our survey forms.
- Avoid single use plastics and food waste.
- Support local and national initiatives providing education and information on environmental responsibility.
- Measure and log temperature changes and conditions at our shows.
