Barkingside 21 and Creative Ambassadors – Environment
Barkingside 21, with help from the Barkingside Art Club Creative Ambassadors, created this flag to share the community’s pride in the nature and green spaces of Barkingside.
Their flag celebrates local wildlife that participants had seen in Barkingside, evoking memories of childhood and times spent with family, with the Fairlop Waters sign and the historical Fairlop Oak in the background.

Flag Audio Description
Transcript: The archway sits below the green pointed roof. In the centre sits a large tree with long roots which stretch down to the bottom of the painting. The bumpy brown bark grows into twisty branches and a mass of green leaves. In front of the tree, a black swallow with white markings and a tiny glimpse of red sweeps in from the left, autumn oak tree leaves and acorns float down the centre. Bottom left, an orange hare with long ears sits. To the right, an elegant grey Heron stands. Background colours are deep red, orange, and a turquoise blue sky.
