Barkingside 21 - History and Architecture  • Vision RCL

Barkingside 21, with contributions from the local community commemorates Barkingside’s rich history and architecture.

It features Barkingside Underground Station, Hainault Underground Station waiting room, historical tram on route 91 from Barking to Barkingside, Second World War Spitfires and a traditional Maypole.

The Creative Ambassadors used a bright colourway to give these historical places a futuristic look.

Flag Audio Introduction

Flag Audio Description

Transcript: Under the green library roof, in the centre of the arch is an Art Deco brick and glass waiting room. Above that six ribbons, red, blue and purple float out from the top of a striped Maypole. To the left and right, two Spitfire planes fly in, as if they are soaring above the red bricks of Barkingside station and a futuristic interpretation of the number 91 tram at the bottom of the pole. The images are layered on top of orange, fading to deep red, and a turquoise blue sky.
