Barkingside Art Club – Spectrum Studio • Vision RCL

Spectrum Studio at Barkingside Art Club is a programme and inclusive safe space, designed for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Barkingside and Ilford.

The flag celebrates their Light-up for Inclusion annual campaign, with Bee lanterns, the Spectrum Studio logo designed by Shanzey, the Barkingside Christmas tree and Redbridge landmarks; Fullwell Cross and Redbridge Central Library, Redbridge Town Hall and Ilford Exchange Shopping Centre.

You can also see the Urban Astronaut show which inspired the idea for Spectrum Studio back in 2019.

Flag Audio Introduction

Flag Audio Description

Transcript: Underneath the green pointed roof, below the arch tip are silhouettes of four Redbridge landmark buildings in a row, from Left to Right, Redbridge Central Library, Redbridge Town Hall, Ilford Exchange and Fullwell Cross Library. Below, a sea of head and shoulders suggests a large crowd. In the centre, an A-shape structure holds up a floating man, bottom left a Christmas tree, a bumblebee in the centre, and on the right a cartoon of a girl. The figures and buildings are golden yellow, deep to light purple and orange for the background. Beyond the arch on either side are paisley swirls; deep red on orange.
