The peacock is a large ,brightly coloured male bird, native to South Asia. Use your cutting and decorating skills to create a vibrant 3D Peacock.

This Summer come and make a unique piece of Hainault Forest glass – featuring the medieval “Maypole” insignia for the area belonging to the Abbess of Barking, and embossed with the oak and hornbeam leaves mentioned in the Tudor survey of the area.

Working with a glassmaker, you choose the colour that you make your piece, and then press the stamp into the hot glass creating a unique memory of your visit to Hainault Forest.

Suitable for ages 7+

Cost: £15 (pick up of finished pieces is 1 week after, or postage can be arranged)

Available at weekends in addition to our glass bauble and dragon egg workshops, or selected weekdays by arrangement.

Join our education ranger for a Minibeast session focusing on Butterflies!

This activity will involve going for a walk to see if we can find some of the butterflies that live in Hainault Forest. There will be some fun games along the way to help us learn more about these beautiful creatures

Discover the differences between moths and butterflies, why we need butterflies as pollinators, and how we can protect them.

This event is open to all ages and families are welcome

Join our education ranger for a minibeast session focusing on Moths!

This morning session will involve inspecting a moth trap that was left out overnight (weather permitting). Work with our ranger to identify and record the moths that are on site before setting them free.

Learn about the differences between moths and butterflies, and why they are just as important. You will find out what threatens our moths and why these surveys are needed to monitor their decline.

This event is open to all ages and families are welcome.

Join the Forest Education Ranger for a morning tour around Foxburrows Farm. Discover the animals that live here, and help our Farm Rangers by giving some of them their breakfast.

Starting before the Farm is open to the public, this tour will teach you about the animals that we have on the farm, including how some can help to manage the forest. There will also be the opportunity to feed some animals (please note that we cannot guarantee feeding specific animals)

The tour will last approximately 45 minutes. The tour will start promptly at 9.15am

Visiting a farm is an enjoyable experience, but does carries a small risk of catching infection from animals or the environment, Particularly for those who are young, elderly, immunocompromised or pregnant. Exploring the importance of libraries, sharing stories and not judging people. The show features live music, puppetry and storytelling. Created with inclusion and accessibility in mind and including key word signing and integrated captions.
