Come join CappARTcino for a fun-filled session of creativity and inspiration as we explore the beautiful world of Monet’s art style. Let your little ones unleash their inner artist and create their own masterpiece on canvas in the style of the famous painter. This in-person workshop is perfect for children from ages 4 – 14 who love to paint and express themselves through art. Join Derek at Del’s Laser Workshop and ignite your creativity with exciting wood cutting workshops over May Half Term. Design your own creation to take home and experience the thrill of transforming raw materials into works of art.

25 May – Design a windchime

As summer comes closer enjoy your time in the garden listening to the sound of some lovely windchimes.

Draw your design and then watch it lasered on to a log slice before tieing on the the chimes and a hanging string

26 May – Make a suncatcher

Sun streaming through the window is a lovely thing, but you can make it something even nicer, design a suncatcher for your window, Pick a design either and animal or a traditional stained window shape and colour it in, then add the frame and hanging string, then pop it in the window at home!

Do you enjoy a nice book? A bit of a read? Ever find you lose your page? Then a bookmark may be perfect for you! Draw a design and see it engraved on to a wooden bookmark.

Did you know May 29 is national biscuit day? Well it is and to celebrate we are running our coaster designing day, maybe decorate it with your favorite biscuit.

30 May – Engrave a plant pot

Everyone loves a nice flower in the garden in the summer and they really help our native insects. With Dels laser workshop you can engrave a terracotta pot, Draw your design on to a piece of paper, see it transferred on to the computer then plant up your pot with a summer flower!

31 May – Make a mini notebook

Its important to keep track of what your up to and a little notebook can help you do this.

Make a a6 mini notebook with us, design your front, watch it engraved, and then take it home and enjoy using it out and about

Decorate your own butterfly made with natural materials, and learn about the butterflies and moths that are found in the Forest. We will also go on a butterfly hunt (weather permitting) to see what species we can find!

All materials are provided for the craft and you will be able to take your creation straight home with you.

This is a family friendly activity aimed at children aged 4-7

This event will last approximately 90 minutes

Join our Forest Education Ranger to discover some of the common birds you may find in gardens and parks. Take part in fun activities to identify birds by sight, song and tracks.

We will take a gentle stroll with spotting equipment to different habitats in the forest. No knowledge is required, this event is open to all! Games and activities will help us all learn to identify some of the common birds. Then we will try to find some of these birds and record what we see and hear.

This walk will last around 90 minutes.

Join our Forest Education Ranger for a minibeast hunt this half-term! Explore the forest to find some of the creatures that crawl, buzz and wiggle.

All equipment will be provided for you to gently search, capture and view some minibeasts. There will also be identification guides and sheets to learn about what we find.

This event is suitable for families, and will involve walking to a site and searching for minibeasts. This activity will last approximately 90 minutes.

Kids! Bring your parent along for an hour of crafting. Craft event for parent and child participation.
