Join Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure for Mental Health Awareness Week.

The Cycling Centre can help cyclists to develop their skills, improve their performance or work towards a long term goal. So come along for a session with a British Cycling Level 2 coach that can help you improve your cycling by delivering coaching on techniques, skills, equipment or helping with a specific cycling target in the future.

A mountain bike and all accompanying equipment (e.g. helmet) will be provided.

Please note that this session is for those who are able to use a bike.

Swimming is the perfect way to keep fit but it’s also thought that swimming is a particularly good way to relax your body, soothe your mind and reduce anxiety.

So come along at any time between 3pm-7:30pm for a swim in Fullwell Cross Leisure Centre’s pool.

Families and children are welcome, when accompanied by an adult.

May the 4th be with you!

Are you team Yoda or Chewbacca?

Can you tell your Stormtroopers from your Ewoks?

May the 4th marks the official Star Wars Holiday, so join us at Central Library and bring all your Jedi skills to make your own BB-8 paper plates.

Please be aware that the younger participants may need parental assistance with scissors.

Come along and make chicks using recycled CDs, paper & googly eyes.

Come along this half term and decorate your very own bookmark! Once you’re done, you’ll have a beautiful bookmark for the books you borrow from the library.

Join us for a weeks’ worth of screen-free and unplugged activities such as colouring in and reading! It is important to encourage children to use screens less. Sometimes, it is easier the hand over the electronic devices for homework but through activities and crafting they may be able to take care of their mind.

We’re pleased to be celebrating World Book Night again this year. It’s a national celebration of books and reading, and we love being part of it.

This year, World Book Night is focusing on Quick Reads; short books and remarkable stories by bestselling authors. Quick Reads can provide a route into reading that prioritises great storytelling and adult-focused content while ensuring the books are written in an accessible and easy-to-read style.

We’re hosting two Book Chat events on Tuesday, 23 April to give away copies of “Game On” by Matt Cain:

  • 1.30pm to 2.30pm: Gants Hill Library
  • 6pm to 7pm: Redbridge Central Library

Both events are free to attend and you can just turn up to discuss books and receive your copy.

Another way to celebrate World Book Night is to enjoy the Reading Hour from 7pm to 8pm and joining people across the UK in dedicating time to reading. You can do this in lots of different ways; reading alone, having a book club meeting, listening to an eAudiobook, or reading to children at bedtime to make it a family activity. You can even call a friend to chat about books and share reading recommendations.

You could also sign up for the Road to Reading. A little reading can go a long way. It can connect us to others, spark curiosity, boost our self-esteem and support our mental health. That’s why, this World Book Night, everyone’s invited to join the Road to Reading. Change your life, 30 minutes at a time! Sign up and pledge to read every week and see what a difference it makes. The Road to Reading lasts 10 weeks but can be the start of a lifetime of regular reading. Sign up from 16 April on the World Book Night website.

Really Big Pants Theatre Company present

Plundered!

by Joe Bromley and Willow Nash

An environmental quest for ages 5+

Whilst searching for hidden treasure, a famously selfish pirate captain has left a once beautiful tropical island littered with rubbish and its inhabitants struggling to survive.  It’s up to Maggie and Roy to save it.  The trouble is… they’re REALLY not friends.  Teleported from their school trip at a maritime museum into the centre of a swashbuckling adventure in the Amazon, will they learn to work together, win the race to find the legendary gold – and restore the place to its natural glory?

Can YOU help us defeat this dastardly litterbug pirate…?

Join these colourful characters (and some perky puppets) as they set sail on their quest!  Explore new habitats and learn about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling; caring for endangered animals; and looking after our world.

And come dressed as a fearsome member of his crew if ye dare!  Arrrrrrr!
