The Our Streets team join us for a FREE Under 5’s Event to celebrate our little ones. They will be offering a special story during our regular rhyme time as part of Reusable Nappies Week.

No need to book, just turn up.

Stories and rhymes will take place from 10.30am-11am as usual.

Plus, at the event you can learn about:

  • The cost and environmental benefits of our reusable nappy trial pack (worth over £35) that you can apply for £5 to residents with children under 18 month and view a live demonstration.
  • The different development stages of your child and how their brain develops so that you can read behaviours, tune into their needs, and help you recognise when your child is ready to start potty training through the Solihull Approach, which is an evidence based not-for profit NHS service for parents that supports the journey of parenthood. Visit www.inourplace.co.uk and use the code BRIDGE to access the courses for free.
  • Find out and learn more about Healthy Start – are you eligible?. The Healthy Start Scheme can help you buy healthy food, milk, and formula if you have children under 4.

Tit for Tat Circus presents Now I am Become d/Deaf (Destroyer of Words)

A clown stumbles before it’s audience and dances between the chattering heads and singing hands of strangers.

With physical comedy, eccentric juggling, and absurd acts of balance; Ryan explores his own degenerative hearing loss as a celebratory source of play and invention.

Living between hearing society and Deaf Culture, whilst feeling a part of neither, he explores cultural boundary and personal identity through moments of chaos, sincerity, and total nonsense.

Immerse yourself in a world where the loudest actions are lost in translation, and the tiniest looks become deafening. A visual spectacle of physical comedy that tears down barriers, celebrates silence and laughs into the face of frustration – in an effort for one clown to simply say “hello!”

About Tit for Tat

Tit for Tat is an unusual juggling company that believes in celebrating the ordinary.

We take ordinary objects, objectives and scenes, and we explore every nook and cranny until we make them extra-ordinary. We believe in finding the most exciting and, more often than not, the most difficult way of getting from A to B.

Even when undertaking simple tasks such as making a cup of tea or changing a lightbulb. We love applying circus techniques to everyday situations or common household objects – creating worlds and characters that audiences can relate to, whilst demystifying the barrier between spectator and spectacle.

Tit for Tat Circus, Now I am Become Deaf (Destroyer of Words) is supported by Without Walls and commissioned by Just So Festival and Hat Fair.

Audio Experience

Tit for Tat Circus has created an Audio Experience which combines a traditional Audio Introduction with some insight from Ryan about his experience of Degenerative Hearing loss, how it is represented within Now I Am Become d/Deaf (Destroyer of Words) and the concepts of the show.
