Forest Musical Theatre Company presents… Seussical!


Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.


The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Join us for a reading circle with the amazing poet and writer Nikita Aashi Chadha (she/they) for South Asian Heritage Month. We’ll be exploring the concepts of space, place and belonging in three essays within Nikesh Shukla’s The Good Immigrant.

Content warning: the essays cover a breadth of topics, including but not limited to racism, casteism and discrimination.

There is no need for any preparation beforehand, as participants will be reading through the extracts together: Namaste by Nikesh Shukla, Airports and Auditions by Riz Ahmed and Perpetuating Casteism by Sarah Sahim. Nikita will then lead a facilitated discussion around each essay and its prominent themes.

The last 15 minutes of this session will be centred on freewriting. A light touch space for participants to work through any residual feelings from the session – folks can share after if they want to, but there is no pressure to.

Nikita is trained in mental health first aid and has direct lived experience of multiple mental health conditions, and being a South Asian person from the diaspora, born and raised in the UK.

Please can participants let us know of any access needs for the session when registering so that we can accommodate them.

As this performance takes place in our Foyer it is unaffected by the current auditorium closure.


An afternoon of fun toe-tapping jazz, blues and swing in our KMT foyer.


Think of the great era of the 1920s and 1930s and of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and Benny Goodman. Add a dash of blues, New Orleans and British trad and you’re sure to have a great time.


The musicians are of the finest calibre. They have travelled the globe, performing at festivals, major concert halls and jazz clubs worldwide. Between them, they have played hundreds of performances in the bands of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk and many more.

Have you ever wondered how all the amazing books in a library were written? Or what makes a good story, ‘good’? Well it all starts with a sentence. In this short workshop with author Simon Maeder you will learn the secrets of writing a great sentence which will lead to a great story!

From useful tips and tricks to real in-depth understanding of the rules of the English language, this workshop is sure to make you more confident in your writing. We look forward to welcoming you and to reading your perfect sentences!

Join Arthur McBain as he reads his two books; ‘In The Dead of the Night’ and ‘Night of the Living Pasta’, followed by a workshop on horror stories, before trying your hand at writing and drawing short horror stories of your own!

Arthur is an actor and children’s author. His debut children’s picture book In The Dead of the Night has been translated into multiple languages. His second book Night of the Living Pasta has recently been released in the UK. When he’s not wrestling with spaghetti monsters in the middle of the night, Arthur disguises himself as an actor in shows such as The Trouble With Maggie Cole and the upcoming After The Flood, bothfor ITV, Ridley Scott’s new film Napoleon, and in the future adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go for Disney+ and FX. He also created the podcast At Your Peril to scare adults.
