Learn to sail, improve skills and confidence on the water. A course for juniors who have either no previous sailing experience or have completed Stage 1. The course follows the RYA Youth Sailing Syllabus and works towards either Stage 1 or 2, whichever is most appropriate for your child. They will learn how to rig, launch & land, how to steer & basic boat handling, ropework, capsize drills and understand the basic principles of sailing. Teaching takes place on the water, on land and in the classroom depending on the group and weather conditions.

The Youth Sailing Scheme logbook is included in the course price as is the certificate however this is not guaranteed unless the course is successfully completed.

The course runs for 3 days, and timings weekly are from 10am-3pm

• Mon-Weds 5th-7th Aug; 10am-3pm daily
• Mon-Weds 12th-14th Aug; 10am-3pm daily
• Mon-Weds 19th-21st Aug; 10am-3pm daily
• Tues-Thurs 27th-29th Aug; 10am-3pm daily

Pre-course requirements: No prior experience or knowledge is required for level 1, minimum age of 8.

You will learn everything you need to know to go for a sail light winds, how to get the boat ready, how to get on the water and sailing around and how to keep you and your crew safe. Time: 09:30 to 16:30 each day with a break for lunch.

During October Half Term, we run popular Water sports camps to keep your kids entertained at Fairlop Outdoor Activity Centre. The multi-activity week includes sailing, kayaking, canoeing, raft building, bell boating and orienteering.

5 day course, 9.30am – 4pm every day.
