Get into the spirit of the party and come dressed to impress!

For this year’s Festival of the Dead, adults and children are encouraged to wear brightly coloured clothes inspired by the Day of the Dead. We will be on the lookout for our favourite Calacas (Skeletons), La Catrinas, Frida Kahlos and party frocks and suits! There will be prizes for both adults and children!

Grab your lanterns, masks and glowsticks to help bring Wanstead alive in a grand spectacle of puppets led by The Lantern Company.

Take a moment to honour your loved ones and join the celebration of life – with Las Muertas stilt walkers and music from Pablo Aguilar’s Mariachi Band.

The Wanstead Procession will gather inside the library 30 minutes before the start of the event.

Award-winning jeweller Kassandra Gordon has worked with Redbridge residents to create a multimedia exhibition that uses jewellery as a lens to explore the profound impact our environments, heritage and migration has on our sense of home and belonging.

This event is part of Black History Month 2024

Calaveras (skulls) feature prominently in the Day of the Dead. People often wear skull make-up or masks and make skulls from sugar to place on altars. Come and decorate a cheeky skull mask to wear in the parade.
