About the theatre
Structural inspections identified RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) in Kenneth More Theatre. RAAC is a lightweight material commonly used in construction between the 1950s and 1990s. Over time, it can deteriorate and must be replaced. As a precaution, the auditorium has been temporarily closed, the bars, foyers, and studio spaces are open and available for hire.
The Kenneth More Theatre was named after the much loved British Film and Stage actor Kenneth More who died in 1982. It was designed by the Borough Architect and officially opened on 3 January 1975.
